Freezer has stopped working and trips the mains off at tripswitch when try to switch it back on, anyone any ideas?? Thank you in advance

Its an old Electrolux TC1160, realise it is perhaps past it, wonder if a simple part from on line parts firm might do the trick, its been in the shed for years and never been a problem before.

What type of circuit breaker trips, RCD or MCB
MCB tripping means you have a short circuit somewhere.
RCD tripping means you have an earth fault
Either could be caused by damaged wiring, damp or faulty plug, faulty compressor or cooling motor (if fitted)

hi and thank you for your help, it has been tested through and its the compressor which has gone! new freezer me thinks
