I have just moved in to a new house built in 1937 but in need of lots of work. This weekend I intended to just knock the old fireplace surround down and close the fire place off until I know what I want to do with it.
It was an open fire place but not been used for years, when I knocked the bottom section clear I noticed lots of cotton wool like stuff. Is this Asbestos? I wet it all down and closed it off until I find out what this "cotton wool like" stuff is.
Any ideas, it must have been some sort of heat insulation but is it Asbestos then?
