Hi
I'm refitting a basin and the existing 32mm waste pipe seems too large for the fittings. I know they're supposed to be snug, but i physically can't push the fitting all the way on to the pipe.

Is this an imperial/metric conversion issue?

What can I do? use sandpaper to enlarge the fitting/reduce the pipe?

Thanks

If a bit of sandpaper is all it needs then great, if not you could cut the pipe back and then use a mcalpine ( compression fitting ) which will fit, then re pipe from there.

Haveyou tried filing/ bevelling the edge of the pipe.

Or a fernco which would be a more reliable fitting if out of sight

If you have a blow torch, gently heat a few inches of pipe on a low heat, keep turning and when it becomes soft, ease it over your existing pipe by a couple of inches to form a socket.

Let it cool and then take off and glue back on

thank you all for your advice. so it turns out toms tips on you tube cover every eventuality!

Anyway, i managed to solve it very quickly with a sanding drum on a dremmel inside the coupling.

Thanks again.
