Order of decorating

Need to seal the edge between a upvc window and stripped wooden frame in my kitchen. The question is do I seal before I gloss or afterwards and what is the best thing to use, flexible sealant?
Does anyone know of a definitive list for the order decorating, I never know what to start with first!

Gloss first seal afterwards, the paint won't stick to the sealant.

You can use coloured water based sealant, to match the wooden frame,
