Overheating - Curiosity

Hi Guys

Can u please help?.. I have a Potterton Profile 50 boiler that has started cutting out (overheating??) after couple mins operation. It can be reset with the overheating thermostat. Setup: no TRVs/Room stats etc... Symptoms: One rad upstairs hot (was airlocked but bleeding helped) and another luke warm the outlet (balance) pipe from the hot rad is no where near as hot as the inlet (on/off) pipe??? I have never been able to isolate HW supply and constantly get heating with HW. I have header tanks (yet to inspect these) in the atic and a large cylinder in the hot press.

System is also fairly noisey but not overly so.

Is there anything I can check/troubleshoot before calling out an engineer???
