    Hi

I started painting the ceiling above the shower today not because it was flaking but just to freshen it up. Wish I had not bothered as when I rolled the area above the shower the paint came of onto the roller. There was no sign of flaking before so I never expected any problems.

What is my course of action now, do I sand the affected area and then seal the area before painting with a moisture resistant paint.

Can someone tell me what the best product to use to bond/seal the flaking area. I intend to use Dulux bathroom paint for the top coat.

    many thanks

This suggests that a mist coat wasn't applied to the plaster. You should make sure you have removed anymore paint that may peel before painting the bare plaster with a watered down coat of matt emulsion (around 20-25% water).

You can either sand the paint edges to feather them in before misting or use a fine surface filler after misting to level the edges out a bit better.

Dulux Bathroom paint should be fine for the finish coat.

Zinsser peel stop is the product you need - as its name suggests, it stops paint peeling.
misterhelpful is right by saying that the ceiling wasn't given a mistcoat, and his advice about sorting it out may well work but if not then get some peel stop.
