I have a few small hairline cracks in the render on the front of my house, not that bad at all but I would like to get it painted before winter sets in.

I'm planing on using Sandtex smooth but should I try and fill these very thin cracks with cement first etc or should the paint be enough?
Cracks are 1mm or less.

Can anyone suggest a good quality external paint to use or is Sandtex up to the job?

What preparation is needed if any before applying the paint?

Thanx in advance for any info.
