Hi.I am just about to start digging out for a round pond and i am going to use a butyl liner,We would like to have a stone fountain in the centre but i would need to build a pier of about 3 foot to set it on.Would it be ok to put a couple of layers of butyl under a paving slab in the centre and build my pier on this?Or is there another/better way. Thanks in advance.

Should be OK just make sure the cement mortar in the pier is sealed to stop it leaching out and increasing the ph of the water, something like G4 will do the trick.
