Help, there's something vibrates in my CH system and It's driving me mad! It sounds like helicopters flying overhead and I'm sure the neighbours must be being disturbed by it. I've only recently moved into the house. When I had the [combi] boiler checked it was condemned in the first instance as it had been neglected for some time. That's now resolved, however, the pipes or something, vibrates something rotten when everything is off. It's not after things have just gone off either I've found that, even during the summer, when everything was switched off, it vibrates from around 11pm. It can be reduced by turning on the hot water but as soon as it's off, it goes again. Any ideas?

Might be worth checking if there is an eco/preheat option. Some combis have an option to come on from time to time briefly to keep the heat exchanger warm and give hot water when called for quicker.
The eco setting switches this function off, that said there is another issue with the machine as it should not be causing noise, but as a temp workaround turning off the function may give you and the neighbours a good nights sleep ;)

Hi, sorry about the delay. Thanks for replying all.
The boiler is a Ferroli Modena 102 combi.
I've discovered that it doesn't only vibrate at night, it vibrates all day on and off too I've just noticed it more at night.
It seems to go through a really noisy period between about 10 and midnight but also vibrates throughout the day.
The boiler's also failing to ignite in the morning when the heating should come on for a couple of hours (we've had a cold spell) and I'm having to reset it every morning. It doesn't seem to need resetting at all during the day though.
I'm thinking the answer might be to get a new boiler but would this stop the pipe vibration?
