I have just installed a ceramic kitchen sink and my question is to do with the plumbers mait around the plugs. I rolled out strips of plumbers mait and wrapped these around the underside of the plug before tighning up the nuts underneath. The plumbers mait has now squeezed out the sides and looks very messy. How much is really needed - can I clean of the excess
