eeek! My Potterton combi boiler is dripping from the bottom and making alarming hissing noises just after it has been in use. At the mo no heating is in use - hot water only although its working and heating the radiators up its not happy. Any advice would be gratefully recieved. Thanks.

You dont bother to give any details of your boiler but I expect that its a Puma or the cheap version called a Combi 80 or 80e.

This sounds like the DHW switch sticking on.

What are you going to do now that you know this?

Many apologies - I am in a bit of a tizz.

Its a puma 100e combi boiler and I appreciate your advice - many thanks.

You may have gathered Im a novice to the world of boilers and easily alarmed - this excellent forum has eased my fears somewhat. Will this work be expensive - as usual, boiler strops dont come on payday :)

We would charge a fixed price diagnostic fee of £84 plus the parts required at about £15-£45 but thats in London and includes a basic service.

In Scotland there can be considerable travelling times involved if you are in a remote area so the charges might not be much less.
