Hi, we're about to get a new kitchen but are unsure where/how to position the extractor fan. At the moment our hob overlaps the window by about 30mm so putting a fan above it will also mean overlapping the window which will look bad and is probably impossible to make the ducting work.

Is there any fan that would work in this scenario or will we need to put the hob over to the left hand side and then have the extractor fan duct go out either on the left hand wall or the top wall?

We've actually been given a lot of new kitchen units which is why we can't get a designer to help us on this.

Cheers!

Move the hob. Its never good to have it under a window - fabric curtains or window coverings.

if its a gas hob check with building regs, im sure its not allowed to be so close to a window, worth checking

Thanks, that could seal the decision as at the moment it's electric but we want to get a gas hob.

I have seen extractors that you build in at hob level. They pop up when you want to use them. Anyone had experience of those?
