in my kitchen there is a cooker on 1 side. i want to put a extractor up and unit next to it but the unit will go over the sink as the sink..i just want to know if anyone has done this and is it a good idea as ppl have said not to do it.

There is no reason why not. I had a property once with a unit over the bowl area, and there were no problems

heeelllooo phil cooper :D:D:D

are you saying the sink and cooker are next to each other!!!!

usualy the sink is by the window this helps you see if the dishes are dirty

from a practical point of veiw you need to hold pots and pans large dishes up clear of the water

why not affix somthing across the sink at the right hight to see how practicle or how much it may annoy you working under a wall cabinet :D :D ;)
