Hello,

I noticed a few days ago (after a power outage) that the radiators in our apartment were cold, and dicovered that the boiler was not running as it should have been. I pressed the reset button, the boiler came on, and the radiators warmed up....for a few hours. The boiler had gone off once again (even though it was very cold outside and the thermostat setting had not changed), and the radiators shut down. So I tried the process again the following day....the boiler came on and the radiators warmed up, but only temporarily before the system shut down. Does anybody have an idea why the boiler would come on and then go off like that, and stay off even though the thermostat should be telling the boiler that it needs heat? Thanks for any input.

How cold is it outside?
Do you have an oil fired boiler?
What type of fuel oil do you use?
When was the boiler last serviced?
How long did it take to do it?
If oil, is the tank above the burner?
