Looking for some advice.

When is it acceptable for the downpipe from a gutter to terminate by simply directing the water away from the house rather than into a rainwater drain.

My neighbour has extended his house and only 1 of the 3 downpipes terminates into a drain. This concerns me as those 2 downpipes are the 2 closest to my property.

When I built a garage at the bottom of our garden the rain water had to be directed into a soakaway. Is there rule concerning size of roof etc?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply.
Can someone please confirm this figure of 4 m sq.
I don't want to discuss this with my neighbour without correct info. He hasn't finished his building work yet so still time to put it right.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of any set size for the roof.

Rain water has to be disposed of so as not to cause any local saturation and possible undermining of the foundations.

Rain water does not have to go into a drain, there are several other methods of dispersing it.
