We would like to paint our white wall unit black to match our new decor. The wood is particleboard with an acrylic white finish. Do you think this will look OK and do you have any tips on this?

No reason why it shouldnt look ok, with the right preperation.

I would rub it down with very fine wet and dry paper first then aply a coat of dulux supergrip primer or melamine primer.

Then paint....but use a sponge radiator roller for a nice flat factory look finish.
