Hi,

How do I do this? the cover is very stiff and I have already scraped my thumb trying to lever it off with a flat screwdriver!

Does it have a screw on the underside, approximately centrally located between the three pins? Have you undone this screw?

Some plugs are "moulded on" and have no screws on the outside. These cannot be removed or reused.

This picture shows the inside of a typical plug with a removable top. You can see the end of the screw that hold the top to the body, just below the earth pin.

Are you familiar with the other techniques?

Oh dear it would appear I have one without an outside screw. That is a pain as I need to get the plug off to pass the cord through a hole in a reptile cage. Any other ideas?

I was thinking I could buy another plug and wire trimmers and just start from scratch but I feel that may be a last resort!

If you have a moulded plug with no screws (the moulded plugs are most often grey) then you will have to cut off and throw away the old plug, and fit a new one.

the molded unopenable ones are easy to tell they have the fuse access between the pins coloured red on the outside[usualy]
