I have a situation where I have a cracked tile, which I cannot find a replacement. I am thinking of trying to remove a tile from under a unit and using that to replace the damaged tile. Any ideas?

If it's been stuck down properly I'd have to say you've no chance. Sorry.
gcol is right, if the tiler did a good job, unless you are very very very very lucky.... 
Press on all 4 corners of each tile under your units, and see if you can find one that rocks, if you do, by some miracle, you may be able to lift it....
Almost certainly though, that after you have tried this , all you will do is....
