Last night the cat jumped onto the cookerhood and ripped it off the wall. It is still connected to the non-switch FCU socket but now rests on the hob!

My question is, is it possible to just remove the cooker hood as we never use it anyway and the cat will only jump on it again (despite the telling off)?

How do I go about removing the FCU or cutting the wire and 'terminating' it?

(As you may have guessed I am a newcomer to the world of DIY)

Any help greatly appreciated.

Disconnect power to the circuit (switch off at main switch if in doubt.
Remove cover of FCU and unterminate the cable.
Replace fitting and restore power.
