If things are that tight, get down the charity shop and buy some more, those are past it.
One of the pound shops, sells a tube of glue, designed for that very purpose.
I think I used Fantastic Elastic from Poundland. Haven't seen it in there recently but available elsewhere.
Also look at Shoe Goo, or Aqua sure. I've used all of these on work boots and running shoes with excellent results.
Contact adhesive can be a bit inflexible.
If you are repairing other bits of the shoe then buy a few mini clamps to hold it all together.

How much are they
Are they vulcanising things like old bicycle repair patch glue
Testicle glue is what you are looking for.

Most things there, seem to be £1.25, but £1.25 doesn't trip off the tongue like a pound.
