Hi, Just bought a new touch dimmer switch from John Lewis and the instructions are as clear as mud! The electrics are new in the house and the existing switch has L1 and com. I have assumed the L1 = live and the com = switch (smybol of circle with a zig zag through it). It seems to work but is this right! It is in the nusery for our new baby so I want to make sure it is safe. Any guidance appreciated. :(

Strictly speaking, COM on a switch (or your symbol on the dimmer) is the feed in, and L1 (& L2 if it's a 2-way) is the switched output, but fret ye not - as it's AC it doesn't matter if you get them reversed.

But you're right - you gotta watch them babies.....

i highly doubt a baby would get into a shuttered socket without using a tool. Those shutters are pretty damn stiff.
