I want to replace fluorescent strip light in kitchen and regular bulb-on-cable in bedroom with a chrome halo bow spotlight. (3ft bar attached to ceiling rose, with 4 movable spotlights) I would like to know how I connect the earth wire(s) that come from the ceiling into the light fittings. I am confused because there are several earth wires in ceiling box going into a screw- which (if any) do I use? Thank you

the earth wires that you see are probably from the switch, the previous light, and the next light, so you must connect ALL of them to your new light fittings earth terminal

If the new light fitting is double insulated you have to cut the earth wires back so they do not interfere with anything.
If not double insulated then all earths fit to the earth point on the new light fitting

Thank you breezer and timdando for corresponding advice - you'd be surprised how many different answers folk have given me. One thing, timdando, how do I know if lighting is double insulated?
