Hi who would have thought it would be that hard to get a new one that works with my wiring...

I have an old boiler and a master mind timer for hot water and CH..
The thermostat is from what i have found out so far an Sopac one, this has 3 wires . live neutral and an earth, i have alreadt bought 2 and took them back coz they all needed a 3rd wire that is for demand haet?
Could anyone tell me which thermostat to get that just needs the live and neutral and maybe an earth please or is it just me, which is probaly the case LOL
Thanks Wayne

your explanation is wrong, what your current stat has is earth (for obvious reasons, common (live wire asking for heat) and "call" wire ( sometimes refered to as normally open or demand). the fact they are coloured as live neutral and earth is irrelevant (except for the sparky's amongst us who say the nuetral should have been sleeved red).

what you are recieving is a stat that requires a nuetral to activate the "anticipater" all you need is a two wire stat for replacement.

To add to bell824's post above
This will be any of the battery operated digital stats or progamable stats on the market
you can get suitable mechanical ones too (any that req no neutral)
some that do have antcipiters do not need a neutral connected if there is enough load on the stat, but you would need to know the current drawn so forget about that

thats where i been going wrong then thinking live and neutral thanks for that. Think i know hwere i been going wrong...
Thanks again
wayne
