Hi

The mother-in-law has brought a new gas hob and electric oven to replace the ones she has, both are built in units.

Does she need a registered gas fitter to install? shes been quoted £185 to do both which seems high

any assistance would be appreciated

thanks

Hobs tend to be plumbed with solid pipe rather than the rubber hose, bayonet fittings used on free standing gas cookers. If this is the case you do need a Corgi fitter to swap them over. The electric oven can be installed on a DIY basis if you know what you're doing. If it's a single oven it might come with a 13 amp plug. Have you tried British Gas for a quote?
