Hi !
I know this is probably really basic but - how do I replace my plastic light switches with metal ones.
We've had a few of ours done by electricians in the past , and it looks really easy, but they always say something about having do fit an 'earth' wire.
What does this mean ? , how do I do it ? and is it easy ?.

Thanks in advance !

At present hopefully there will be an earth wire going to your back box (providing its metal.) The way I would do this is to disconnect the earth wire from the back box, connect it into the switch earth terminal along with a new loop of earth wire with the other end connected to the back box.

And if theres no earth, you will have to keep the plastic switches, or rewire.
