replacing plastic light switches with metal switches.

Hi,

i would like some advice about changing light switches.

the wiring at the switch has an earth which is currently connected to the metal back box.

as my switches require an earth, do i need to connect this wire to the switch plate or is it ok to run a short length of wire between the two linking them.

Do both - i.e. connect the cpc in the cable to the switch plate and also run a short flylead from there to the box.
