I\\\'ve bought a new light fitting to replace my old rose fitting but when I removed the old rose I found that there were 3 neutral cables in the in block but on 1 live and 1 earth (junction box system). Since my new fitting has the connectors direct on the actual bulb hold (slush ceil light), I\\\'m not sure how to over come this.

Any ideas greatly received.

sounds like a bit of a bodge

is it singles?
are they in coduit?
can we have a phot of it?

Sorry I forgot to say that that this old light rose is switched on by a switch that has 3 lights attached to it and one is a two way. Sorry can't put image up as have not got a wed site to put it on.

It's very quick'n'easy to go here:

http://imagehost.darkernet.co.uk , upload a pic, copy the URL that they tell you and then paste that here and put IMG tags round it.

i get the following
this image could not be found or has been removed by our moderator team

is there one cable with a red black and earth and another 2 double insulated blacks

it seems to me that it was originally a juntion box system and when adding lights they took the lives (and hopefully the earths) off at the switch and the neutrals off at the rose

provided they fit in the terminals you could put all 3 into the terminal on the light

if not and you can get at the wiring from above without too much trouble i would move the neutral tapoffs back th the juntion box

if you can't get at it from above then i would advise making the connections with crimps in a chockbox and connecting a single cable to the light

then when you know everything works you push the chockbox through the hole into the viod

Thanks Plug wash, the system is juction box system as none of the light fittings use the loop sockets. Also i've looked at my neibours rose (in the same posotion) and its wired the same. Also will I be able to get the crimps and chockbox from my local eletrical store as its not possible to get to the kuction box from above.

Thanks for all your help.

another possibility is its not a junction box system but a system wired with a mixture of "red and earth" and single core double insulated black

any decent electrical supplier should have chockboxes and butt crimps availible if you are having touble there are online suppliers but delivery can be a bit pricey with theese
i would use the small red ones for the live and earth and the large yellow ones for the neutrals (to give you enough space to stick 3 wires in one end)

it is strongly advisable to use a ratchet crimper (about £15-£20) as the squeeze and pray types are knon to give bad connections

note: tlcs prices exclude vat (17.5%) and delivery (i think i paid a fiver and im not in any of thier branch areas)
