I want to fit a second valve on my rising main after the stop cock what is the best type to use ,would flow be restricted using the wrong one ,are ball valves any good?

You could ask at your merchants for a full bore isolation valve, you get these either with a screw slot or with a handle. As the name suggests full bore, without restriction.

Just get a "Stop Tap".. I'm guessing your rising main is in 15mm copper?

As long as your pressure isnt p1$$ poor to start with, you won't notice a thing.

Just make sure you fit it the corrent way, it should have a direction arrow on.

Don't buy a gate valve, they are terrible for seizing up!
