any help would be very greatfull..
I have had this alarm for about 15 years.
problem is that the outside sounder is going off by its self.
not taken it down yet just thought a would ask first.
if its a new unit or can it be sorted.
whots the live span of the battery in the sounder.

Is the panel showing any fault codes or leds?

it only has leds.

if its showing tamper there is a fault with the tamper return from the bell box, but @ 15 years old , get a new one

not showing any faults at all,
Iv just been up and took the box cover off and took out the wires for the bell, I noticed that one of the strobe wires was out,
do you thing this might be the problem.

doubtfull, since the stobe (waste of time) only serves to indicate am alsrm activation.

get a new sounder, or (if you must) check the tamper sowitches and their connections

Could be only a 5 wire sounder, in which the 6th core would be unused.

Hello breezer. Alarm strobes' are not a waste of time.
Alarms must shut off the audio after twenty minutes. The strobe lets police and householder know the alarm has actuated. Central stations can contact the police and key holder but many people have , "Bells only". Hope that helps.

why do the police want to know which alarm has gone off? they already have the address given to them by the central station. or if its bells only the person who called will give the address.

What you also forget is the following

It should read

The strobe lets police, householder and potential intruders know the alarm has actuated.

Insurance companies have regognised this fact for some time, so they no longer suggest that strobes are fitted. Which means they are a waste of time.

Some companies go so far as to only fit dummy bell boxes externaly, relying on the monitoring instead. since the fact is most people (i opened the window and asked) will ignore an external sounder (unless it goes on for hours)
