I'm trying to put in a shower base. Any tips to ensure sealing is good betwwen base and three tiled ( not done yet ) walls. Should I put the shower base a little under the wallboard and then tile down to the shower to ensure no leakage?

Yep you can do that, but make sure you ply the walls and not just use plaster board or you run the risk of the tiles coming off in the future if water get the back of them
