Hi any ideas on this please ?
Pull the switch for the shower and the neon is lit, push the on button on shower unit .. nothing ! The neon on the pull switch goes out too. Pull the swtich cord and switch neon is lit again !
Is there a reasonable explanation for this or is it gremlins at work..
Cheers

I installed a new electric shower recently and noted I didn't need a on/off valve like I did 20 years ago, this had a solinoid operated valve similar to those in washing machines, so if you're not getting any water out I suspect the valve is closed because the solinoid has failed.
If you're into 'electrics' you can remove the fuse, remove the cover of the shower and test the solinoid for continuity with a meter.
You should be able to get spares from the manufacturer

To add to the above there is also the possability the switch on the shower has failed, but again this can also be checked with the meter.

have you checked the shower fuse? what concerns me is that the neon goes out again

how old is the shower?

in my opinion if the shower is 5 years or more it usually time for a new shower, this is becasue the showere element usually gets furred up and over heats
