i am going to install a 9.5kw electric shower i have a 7.5kw at present running on 6mm cable on a 32amp mcb the distance between fuse box and isolator switch is around 8ft running up side of wall via trunking in to loft to iso/switch would 6mm cope with 9.5kw or would it be best to change cable to 10mm on a 40amp mcb thanks

Best to change just to be sure, though you may get away with it cos its a short run but best to be safe ;)

your looking at 39.5A for that shower so the mcb isnt up to the job.

havent got the 'bible' to hand so not sure about the 6mm installed the way you have it but im thinking 39A is pushing it definetly.

id be upgarding to 10mm, especially as its such a short run and in trunking so likely to be easy to run in.
