well how do i put up coving on a barreled cealing what i meen is its got to go all the way down the slope to the corner im useing poly coving (polystyrine) coving i was thinking of cuting lines inthe back then pushing it in place then pining it in place i plan on useing gripfill to fix it all in place with a hand fall of pins just to keep in place.
when i push it in place with the lines will open up lookng like a load of wedges then fill with joint filler sand back
WHAT DO YOU THINK LADS

what you need to do is stare a it for three days spend loads on mats ,completely sahg it up then find a local tradesman who will charge you half as much as you've just wasted and do you a good job.jmo :)

your going to cove that ceiling with polystyrene coving? ok m8 instead of gripfill use decorators caulk, gripfill bit to heavy and messy i think for polystyrene, and make sure you give us a pic of the finished ceiling :)

i don't see that working out tbh.

if it doesn't, i'd find a fibrous plaster monkey, pick some coving from them, and have them cast the curved part in place.

$0.02

so just whats your probs m8
the way iv said how to do it cos thats how a plaster told me to do it at work today and i was asking you ways of doing it

Two things here, firstly you cant go around there using anything off the shelf, it needs to be cast or will look like a pigs ear. I would scarf the coving into the slope of the ceiling. Sencondly, normal gripfill will eat the poly coving, solvent free is ok though and if you have a wet sponge on the ready you can sponge in the spill to fill the gap but in my experience it always cracks and needs caulking again, best bet is to follow steves advice and use decorators caulk which can also be sponged in tidy, this is now my prefered method since learning the hard way with the solvent free gripfill.

so whats the bst way to tackle the off set bottom corner of the slope as its not a level corner it rears up on e corner

The best way in my opinion is to terminate the coving at the short wall on both sides. Otherwise you will be trying to fit coving which is preformed to fit 90° angles into a wall/ceiling run which looks from your photo to be approx 110°. In other words, impossible, unless you form a bulkhead of some sort.
