i'm trying to fit a radiator into a space about 46cm

so a 40x60 rad will be fine and cheap on both Toolstation and Screwfix

my problem is when you add the valves - which I make around 6cm from the side of the radiator -
then we have 40 + 6 + 6

so 52cm

which may be an issue

while and try and workout - how to fit that into the space as best i can

any one have experience of being able to fit rads into small spaces

i can go smaller width and height - i guess - but the price seems to double or higher

It isn't a good idea to install smaller radiator as your current rads have been sized to heat your room properly. A smaller rad could mean a cold uncomfortable room.

A way round is fitting a single vertical radiator.

If you're concerned about a cm or two then you could put a chrome 90 into the rad, take the pipe under it and use an inline valve of some sort, like a quarter turn valve. Take the handle off.

There are of course cheapo versions of that Pegler but I've known them fail on heating.

You could if appropriate use 10mm or even smaller pipe. Remember the hole in a TRV is only about 5mm diameter. You hardly need any flow for a tiny rad.

these are 2 new rads, in a room , so added to the system - boiler replaced a year ago with a much higher unit to account for this - Thanks

Just fit a rad that fits butchering something in and you will spend your time looking at a cat's breakfast to Save a few quid,
Not really butchering - already have 2 300mm 1.8 vertical rads in other rooms and they are pretty useless , despite the BTU rating - worked out an fitted by our normal plumber

Just wanted to know if something existed that would solve the issue - that I had missed

looking at the centre connection from underneath on some units - or ????

clearly no real alternatives other than going down to a taller 300 unit from what advice i have
