I have quite a few questions on this subject so here goes...

Q1. I am building a wide gravel drive on a slope with a hardcore sub-base which leads down to my house / garage. How much drainage does this need or will the water simply soak in across the general area?

Q2. I was thinking of using those drive drains with the metal grids but will they not simply fill up with gravel over time?

Q3. I need to build a new soakway(s) for the gravel drive plus the paths around my house. Is a soakaway simply a 1.4m cubed hole dug 5m from the house and filled with any old rubble? Does it need a membrane all around or just on top and should it be capped with concrete?

Q4. I've also read about the new type of soakaway which look like large plastic milk crates. Any views?

 The milk crate is better.Because the hard core takes up a large volume of the hole.Basically we used to chuck hardcore into the holes because ,overall there was always a surplus, from our jobs, and it was acceptable then.
