Not sure what this is, sort of multicore lead , terminated away from the box with sort of pyro type seals and no glands

on the same site

How old would this be?

it says 1860 on it, not sure why though.

The building is older than that so maybe.

I think that was about the time edison invented the lightbulb.

No it's too early for that, although there were other lamps at that time, none very good, and arc lamps, but I can't see someone lighting a factory with them.

There weren't really any commercially viable electric motors then either.

In fact, there wasn't really enough of anything, AFAIK, to have generated a big enough market for Siemens to be making items like that in 1860, particularly as then they were mainly a telegraph company and didn't get into electrical power until the 1880s.

[guess]"1860" is more likely to be a product number.[/guess]

Send the photo to Siemens - they might be able to date the item.

Someone with pride in their work by the looks of things.
Again, nice pics.

It looks like some kind of distribution board to me.
On the last couple of pics there appears to be a couple of labels, can you see what they say on them?
Might give us a clue.

Maybe if you 'google' the name of the factory or the address you could possibly trace back anyone who has owned the place or even, (some stretch of the imagination here), who the original owners/occupiers were!
