I had operating system on 250Gb SSD drive, and then have a 1Tb HDD for storing photos, videos etc.
One advantage of storing photos etc on a separate drive from the OS, especially if you are on Windows, is that if the OS fails you can just unplug the drive and stick it in another machine.

My top tip about any type of drive though - Drives always fail eventually. So never rely on one drive for important documents, photos, videos etc. Always have a backup, and a backup of the backup, and TEST your backups.

I'm not the expert but could give advice. Use your SSD as the main disk for the Windows and some "heavy" programs like Photoshop or game (big hello to Cyberpunk 2077), cause they would runs faster. Other things just drop into a hard disk drive.

Bought a PC for my son less than one year ago, 250Gb SSD for OS and main programs, 1Tb HDD for data.
    The HDD failed already.
    Enough said!

SSD drives are peanuts now, I Have seen 60GB for about £15.

With 1tb+ SSD drives being available I cannot see me Wanting to buy any more mechanical drives.
