Staircase Advice

Hello all o/

Moved into a new house about 3 months ago and this is me getting onto the hallway and it's staircase! I have linked a few pictures below so you can see what I am seeing!

I'm dabbling wither or not it is worth (and feasible) knocking under the stairs away for that little bit extra storage space that the house lacks.
As you can see in the pictures, I've removed the banister and spindles as I have a new couch coming, and its a very small hallway so this is unrelated to my question.

I've tapped below the stairs and the other side of it (the kitchen) and it all appears to be hollow, so would it be safe to assume I can knock away the boarding that is on the side (that seems to be some cheap and nasty thin ply) and not face to much of a job?

No probs. Cut out door shape in the ply, reinforce the hole with a new doorframe, measure and cut a new mdf or ply door to fit, fix with hinges, add trim, add handle, or use a touch latch.

If you want to remove the lot, cut a hole and stick your head in to see whats what.

just having a nightmare thaught of sticking my head in the hole, only to find some monster willing to gobble my head off.

On a more serious note, will give it a go! I'm up for just opening the space up for storage boxes, so going to stick my head through now!
