Stepping Stone

I would like to put a few stepping stones down. I've worked out the height of them, they will need to be 150mm off the ground.

I understand that a bedding mortar should only be about 50mm, what can I use to raise the height.

I was thinking of; 50mm mortar bed, 50mm slab, then 50mm mortar bed and then my stepping sotne.

Any help appreciated.

you could happily set them on concrete but hiding the ugly concrete edge would be your problem. If you gave it a float as it started to go off you could get a decent but grey result.
