Sticking a mirror onto tiles

Is it OK to use normal silicone to stick a mirror onto a tiled surface, or is there a good reason I should use the Mirror Mate adhesive which is 3x the price?

Does silicone attack the mirror rear surface or something?

you can use silicone, are you not using any screws at all then? if not make sure you hold it for a bit before letting go when you apply the silicone! 7 years bad luck if it slips and breaks

Thanks for the reply, I went out and bought the mirror adhesive just in case and stuck it up with that, supported at the bottom with some timber, and it seems stuck fast this morning

Well, it isnt very straight, but it's a round mirror, so I got away with it
