Stupid question - sorry. Chimney lined?

I know it's a silly question , but is there a simple way I can check (other than pay someone to come and check?) If it helps, it used to be used as a boiler flue (I now want to use it for an extractor hood). Thanks.

Can't you just look to see if there's a liner?

Thanks Kevplumb . Last stupid question of the morning, I imagine that the liner doesn't have any gaps all the way up the chimney breast? That way, when I attach my extractor hood to it, it won't be pumping out those nasty cooking smells to the other bedrooms which have fire places off it? Cheers, J.

the bedroom fireplaces should have there own flues seperate
