Hi. I've got a problem with the drains in my rented flat. All was fine till a few days ago when there was a torrential downpour, the next thing the bath tub wouldn't drain. The next day it was all fine again. However, a couple of days ago it rained again and the Kitchen sink wouldn't drain... after about an hour there was a noise in the bathroom and we discovered that the tub has re-regurgitated up some stuff and now it's all completely blocked.

Went to the Shop to get some chemical un-blocker but to no avail. Instead we have a very strong bleach smell.

What could be done? And would the blockage be suituated?

Many thanks.

Phone a local drainage company who will put a drain snake down for about £40. :D

If the flat is rented then its the landlords responsibility unless you have put something down the drains yourself.

There is always a possibility that local flooding has backed up the drains preventing them from flowing away.

this is what is called as a combined drain.

it can just be one of those things but if it keeps happening then that says that the public sewer is blocked which is down to the local authorities.

if you know that it is their problem then dont let them beat you they are lazy sods they will only come out 3 times and it has to be a dire emergency for them to come out
