Suggestions for protecting a sloping loft area from shower

My loft bathroom will have a hand shower almost immediately under the part of the roof which starts sloping.

Will be difficult to tile the sloping part, how best can I protect this from water etc. At present it has just ordinary white paint on top of the plaster skim.
