Hi,

I live on the 2nd floor in a converted Victorian building. I'm doing a flat renovation and I plan to install UFH in the living room as well as wood flooring.

My freeholder has very strict requirements on soundproofing. I did an acoustic test, and the technical solution to have UFH while maintaining soundproofing performance is below:

I guess the soundproofing performance of the solution above should be fine. But how about heat transmission for the UFH? Will that make the UFH rather inefficient to the extent that I should probably just use radiators?

many thanks
Patrick

Thats not an onerous spec at all, not sure how much your downstairs neighbours will appreciate the hard walking noise from bare timber floor.
You'll have to be very careful with installation detail- that air gap will have to be sealed at all points (no draught) otherwise you'll lose much of the ufh energy.
Ufh under timber- not sure. You might want to get onto a supplier, show them that drawing & ask them how many w/sq m their setup will deliver to the room and what sort of efficiency will it deliver.
