Hi all, hope you can help. My combi boiler is operated by an SM300, the dial on which has now broken. I have been given a second hand SM400 unit, but not sure I can use this to replace the broken 300 model? I will be replacing the boiler within 18 months so dont want to spend a lot on bringing it back to working order. Cheers.

No, don't use the SM400 on your combi. It's not for combis, but vented systems with hot water cylinder instead.

Your current programmer has volt free comtacts, but the SM400 supplies 230V. This could damage your boiler's electrics.

If you're not keeping your boiler long, just get a cheap volt free contacts programmer for combis on Ebay, maybe used. However, your new boiler will still need a programmer, so one bought now can be kept.
