Buy whole new cartridges (pair), but take the old one to merchants because they can vary in so many different ways... including the direction of opening... hot and cold can vary in the direction they open

B&Q sell a case with "assorted plumber's washers" in (and another one with O rings in. Sounds a bit naff but I have both cases and find them really useful. Might be worth a try?
I have them too, not waht you need here, trust me. You need to buy the whole ¼turn cartridge...
