This might come as a surprise to you but investigations wind down and stop because the police believe that whoever has gone missing has gone.
you have answered your own question here.
Are you saying that we should maintain a police investigation of hundreds of officers in perpetuity? Is there ever a time when you say - "the trail's gone cold, better wind things down"?
precisely, the police will wind down when they see fit.
the Mcans on the other hand will probably never stop looking.
Children go missing daily - couldn't the fund be put to better use than paying for endless pictures in the papers? Paying oodles of money to private investigators that are always 'on the verge of a breakthrough' that never quite arrives? So let me ask you all this.
the Mc's can spend their fund as they see fit. their investigations will not dilute any other investigations into other missing persons.
"At what point do YOU believe the search should be scaled down/called off and assume that she is lost forever?Or do we keep on searching until we are looking for a missing pensioner?"
as a parent you will never rest i'm sure.
Answer please. (they won't).[/quote]
