Just after some advice please

I am about to tile my bathroom but dont really want to increase the height of the floor from the existing one

Would it be sufficient to remove the existing boards then screw down 18 mm ply direct to the joists using noggins then tile directly onto this?

18mm is a bit on the thin side, 22 or 25mm ply would be better, but depends on your joist spacing.

Consider using marine grade plywood. More expensive but it is not damaged by water which will be inevitable on a bath room floor.

you can use 18mm wbp exterior ply and use a 2 part flex adhesive such as fast flex or granfix ultimate flex

Play safe and use 25mm (18mm is thin stuff). Marine ply is OTT for bathroom floors - WBP is fine. Marine would be a waste of money. Bal all the way for timber floors.
