I have just fitted a new ball cock valve to my w.c. It is a bottom entry valve and is leaking water at the bottom of the cistern where the entry pipe enters the cistern. I've tightened the plastic nut and it seems to leak even worse. Does anybody know how to fix it please?

hold the valve on the inside, tighten the nut on the bottom on the outside, can be tricky.

U got the washer fitted right? Goes inside cistern ,tighten up by hand 1st to ensure its sitting in the middle. Some times you can have a wee bit tension on the supply pipe putting a strain on the body .Tighten up bottom nut before you attach supply pipe.failing that put a bucket underneath!!!!!!!

Thanks 'timbalcombe' and 'peteleak'. Tried both your solutions and one of them has definately worked. Thanks again for your help.
