Can anyone help? Upon flushing the pan the syphonic action is not very energetic, leading to not all the waste getting carried away in one flush. Any ideas? Could there be a blockage within the pan itself. It is a 8 litre low level cistern using a part 3 ball valve.

Check to see if the cistern empties when flushing if not sounds like your diaphragm split or damaged (the diaphragm is at the bottom of the plunger which push the water out when you flush the cistern).

Either renew the diaphragm or replace the flushing unit.

I made one temporary out of DPC and forgotton all about , still going strong !

thanks for that. The cistern does empty in one turn of the lever, however its more a case of the flushing water isn't very powerful. any ideas?
thanks.

has it always been "slow to flush" i was just thinking perhaps the syphon has a leak after it starts, just as easy to change the whole syphon at less than £4.00 can't argue see this
